For Adare Manor’s sixth Midleton Very Rare Single Cask, Master Distiller Kevin O’Gorman used his expertise from years as Midleton’s Head of Maturation to select a particularly special virgin American oak barrel laid down by Barry Crockett in 1998. After 24 years of maturation, investigation and sampling, Kevin felt that it was time to add this exquisite whiskey to Adare’s collection with this special cask laid down on the 25th of August 1998. Tasting Notes:  NoseOpens with a bouquet of aromas, including vibrant citrus peel, mango, and strawberry at first, while coconut shavings and delectable chocolate mousse slowly come to the fore. The charred oak continues to add depth with rich smoked wood nuances and nutmeg, while the pot still spices offer up dustings of white pepper and clove. TasteMet with dark chocolate and cocoa powder with robust tannins akin to black tea. The abundant array of mixed fruits slowly reveals themselves adding vibrancy that combines effortlessly with the clove and cinnamon spice. The pot still spices continue to build as the charred American oak remains unwavering throughout. FinishSatisfyingly long with the fruits the first to fade, leaving the oak and spices continue to linger for a time.
